«Honor your father and your mother…»
They survived the hell. They went through the horrors
of the Holocaust: horrors of Ghettos and Concentration
camps. When they were children they faced death.
It happened then when the concepts of kindness and
holiness lost their meaning to their lives. Later
they learned to appreciate good. However, for most
of them God died in Ghettos when they saw their relatives
being killed. One cannot possibly grasp their experience
and imagine the horror of what they faced.
Now they are above 70 years old. They are close to
the death again. Many of them do not have children:
they were afraid to have children because the Holocaust
paralyzed their emotions and desires, as well as
ruined their health. Thus they lack simple human
comfort. They have apartments and there are everything
they need in the apartments. Some of them have financial
problems, some of them do not. Praise God that Israeli
authorities take care of them. However, they lack
emotional support and sympathy, parent-child relationship
and understanding.
We do not try to evangelize them: words may be vain
to them. We just want to serve them with God’s love,
love of the Messiah: to come, to listen, to help,
to honor as it is written in the Torah, “Honor your
father and your mother”. Yeshua emphasizes an importance
of these words instructing His followers to obey
the words of Moses given to Israel from Sinai Mount. What do we do to cause them to feel love?
We help them to clean. We buy them necessary food
products. We pay attention to what they say. We
take them to different trips: for example, to Jerusalem
and Galilee. We celebrate with them Jewish Holidays
such as Rosh Hashanah, Chanukah and Passover. It
is not too much, but it blesses and comforts them.
This is what we can do to those whose sufferings
are in the foundation of the modern State of Israel.
Then he said to me, "Prophesy to these
bones and say to them, 'Dry bones, hear the word
of the
LORD! 5 This is what the Sovereign LORD says to these
bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will
come to life.
(Ezekiel 37:4,5)
